CyHi The Prynce signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music in 2010, but hasn’t had an official release date set for his studio debut that was once titled Hardway Musical, but has released a slew of mixtapes, appeared on G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer, Kanye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and has writing credits for nearly every song on Mr. West’s Yeezus.
In 2015, after getting dropped from Def Jam and having his debut album indefinitely postponed, CyHi dropped a diss track called “Elephant in the Room” that imagines Prynce shooting up the Def Jam offices, kidnapping Kanye and airing his grievances of G.O.O.D. Music President, Pusha T, as well as other label mates. He claimed it wasn’t so much a “diss track” aimed at his bosses, but was a playful poking of insults; like what Eminem does to Dr. Dre on “Guilty Conscious.”
He’d use the controversy of “Elephant in the Room” to announce the title of his upcoming album, L.I.O.N., on G.O.O.D. Music, which still hasn’t had an official release date.
Until it does, check out CyHi The Prynce’s latest single “Legend.”
